Day 262 – Wisdom
Proverbs 28:11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes, but the poor who has understanding searches him out.
- God’s names:
- YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- Elohiym – Supreme God
- Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
- Theos – Supreme Divinity
- God’s character:
- Wisdom
- Understanding
- Knowledge
Rich people walk around with an air of superiority that tells people they are off-limits for condemnation. They act like they wear Teflon promoting the idea that they are above reproach and know everything. They’re untouchable. Therefore, they are wise in their own eyes. They don’t realize they delude themselves. They look down on poor people who have gained wisdom through lived experience.
Solomon was the richest man who ever lived. He was also the king of Israel, and the wisest man of his time or any time. YAHWEH told him no one would be wiser than him.
1 Kings 3:11 Then Elohiym said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor will any like you arise after you. 13 And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there will not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. 14 So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.”
Solomon’s wisdom came from Elohiym, not from himself. With his wisdom, he could teach the people what Elohiym wanted from them, and it wasn’t to act on their own, but to seek Him for wisdom and understanding.
Proverbs 1:1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, to perceive the words of understanding, 3 to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgment, and equity; 4 to give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion— 5 a wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, 6 to understand a proverb and an enigma, the words of the wise and their riddles. 7 The fear of YAHWEH is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother; 9 for they will be a graceful ornament on your head, and chains about your neck.
Elohiym gave Solomon his wisdom for one purpose — to teach people how to honor Elohiym with their lives.
As Christians, how do you perceive your wealth? Do you look at it as something you earned and worked hard to achieve? Or do you look at it as coming from Elohiym? Many Christians flaunt their wealth and believe they are better than those who don’t have the same wealth as themselves. They will give you their degrees. Their name has many letters after it, making it seem like they have Yeshuwa’s ear, when He is far from them. They don’t look to Him, they look to themselves.
When you give your life to Yeshuwa, including your finances, He will give you wisdom that those in higher stations in the church cannot attain. They no longer look to Yeshuwa, but themselves. Your wisdom comes directly from Yeshuwa.
2 Timothey 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to Theos, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of Theos, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to Theos, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of Theos.
When you give your life and everything you do to Yeshuwa, He will give you everything you need for this life.
Mark 10:24 And the disciples were astonished at His words. but Iesous answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?” 27 But Iesous looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with Theos; for with Theos all things are possible.” 28 Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.” 29 So Iesous answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time — houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions — and in the age to come, eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
Wisdom is not predicated on what you achieve, but on what Yeshuwa works in and through you for the advancement of His kingdom.
Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as Theos has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
Let’s pray: Father, give me a humble spirit to look to You for wisdom and discernment. Don’t let me think of myself as anything, but to look to You as giving me wisdom and understanding. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
