Day 265 – Happy

Proverbs 28:14 Happy is the man who is always reverent, but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

• Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
• Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
• Theos – Supreme Divinity
• Soter – Savior
• Kurios – Supreme Authority

• God’s character:
• Awe
• Salvation

Do you know anyone who is always reverent? I don’t. Everyone has failings. However, even those who have a reverent attitude toward life have a heart that isn’t hardened by life’s circumstances and will not fall into calamity like the person who has no regard for anyone or anything.

Solomon had a reverential fear of YAHWEH. His many proverbs point to the wisdom YAHWEH gave him. He wasn’t a perfect man, but he feared YAHWEH and lived his life in reverential awe of Him, which is why he could pen the above proverb. His life was a good and happy life. Not perfect, but good.

He lived by the same rule his father, David, exemplified.

Psalm 16:8 I have set YAHWEH always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9 Therefore, my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope. 10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

What about your life? Are you happy? As Christians who know the power of Yeshuwa’s resurrection, you can be happy — rejoicingly happy. Your smile says everything about your relationship with Yeshuwa Christos.

You have a reason for your glad heart. Consider what Yeshuwa said in the Sermon on the Mount.

Matthew 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see Theos. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of Theos. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

When you read these verses, you see every season of your life, and Yeshuwa tells you to be blessed, happy, glad. Why? Because He made a way for you to rejoice through His blood, shed for you for the remission of your sins.

Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Iesous took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

No matter what life throws at you, you have the power of Yeshuwa’s resurrection working in you. That will make you smile. That will give you reverential fear to overcome everything Satan wants to put in your way. Yeshuwa is your Soter. He is your salvation. He is your Kurios. He is the reason you can smile and be happy.

Let’s pray: Father, You made me to have reverential awe for who You are; to give You praise with every breath I breathe. Let me show Your joy as I go through my day and not let Satan bring a shadow of doubt to my life. Help me stand strong in You and in the power of Your resurrection. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
