Every four years in the US we have the opportunity to vote for the person we believe is best suited for the highest seat in the land. We always hope the person elected to office will serve the people. It doesn’t always happen, and looking through history at the various countries around the world, leadership seems to serve its own purpose instead of the will of the people.
Solomon showed that bad government was the same as a roaring lion or a charging bear. They had already felt the oppression of Pharoah in Egypt. Israel had also felt bad leadership in King Saul. When Solomon became king when his father died, YAHWEH came to him in a dream and asked him what he wanted. Solomon asked for wisdom to rule His people. He didn’t want to rule Israel without YAHWEH’S stamp of approval over the affairs of office. Elohiym granted his request.
1 Kings 3:5 At Gibeon YAHWEH appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and Elohiym said, “Ask! What will I give you?” 6 And Solomon said, “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7 Now, O YAHWEH my Elohiym, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. 8 And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. 9 Therefore, give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge these great people of Yours?” 10 The speech pleased Adonay, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 Then Elohiym said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor will any like you arise after you. 13 And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there will not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. 14 So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.”
With Solomon’s request, you see a condition. Elohiym told him that he needed to keep His statutes and commandments just as his father, David did.
From Solomon’s life, you know he did not walk as faithfully before Elohiym as his father, still YAHWEH kept His covenant with David and kept a man on the throne from David’s seed. He also divided the kingdom in half after him, giving the seed of David two tribes of the twelve — Judah and Benjamin. Judah because that is the tribe David came from and Benjamin because that is where Jerusalem was located. The remaining ten tribes went to the other kings of Israel, and their capital was in Samaria, in the tribe of Ephraim.
As Christians, you have one Basileus, one Kurios, one Soter. His name is Yeshuwa. He also gives you a condition just as He did Solomon.
2 Chronicles 7:12 Then YAHWEH appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him, “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.
Your body is the temple of the Hagios Pneuma. He hears your prayers. His answer to Solomon at the dedication of the temple is the same answer He gives you because you are His temple. He will hear your prayers IF you humble yourselves, pray, and seek His face and turn from your wicked ways. Only then will He answer your prayers, forgive your sins, and heal your land.
Many Christians can quote those verses, but they don’t pay attention to the IF statement Elohiym made to His people. You are also His people because you accepted Yeshuwa, His Huios as Soter and Kurios. From the moment you accepted Him, Satan went on the offensive and has done everything he can to turn you away from Yeshuwa.
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (NKJV)
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (NKJV)
Your adversary wants to see you downtrodden. He wants you to forget to pray and seek Yeshuwa’s face. When you stand firm in your faith, Yeshuwa will always walk beside you, taking care of you and nourishing you, just like He said in Psalms.
Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (NKJV)
Yeshuwa walks with you in the valley. He walks with you in the hard times of your life. He will never forsake you or leave you defenseless.
Many Christians believe you don’t need to do anything accept Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of Theos, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christos Iesous for good works, which Theos prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Grace is a gift of Theos. We obtain it by faith. However, we are still His workmanship, created for good works. Our work is to pray, seek His face, humble ourselves, and turn from our wicked ways. When we do, He will bless us abundantly, more than we could ask or think.
Are you living in the free grace of Theos without doing anything for it? Don’t forget the IF statements YAHWEH makes throughout His Word. You are His workmanship. He is not yours.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for reminding me that I belong to You. You created me for Your pleasure for good works. Salvation is free, but it came with a price — Your Son’s blood. Help me walk in faith, seeking Your face in everything I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

May God bless you when you humble yourself, pray, seek His face, and turn from your wicked ways. May He bless you abundantly more than you can ask or think. And may He bless you because you know what your enemy is doing, and you are seeking His will for your life and not following after the pleasures of the world. And may He always walk with you through every trial and bless you with peace.
