Do you know people who seem to have it all — good job, nice house, a family that gets along well, and the one who gets the best parking spot every time? People like that don’t exist — not in reality. They put on a good face for the public, but behind closed doors, they have the same problems you do.
Solomon said those who work will have what they need. Work meant tilling the land — not spending one’s life trying to get rich quick. Solomon knew that when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, YAHWEH told them they would work by the sweat of their brow.
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the sound of YAHWEH Elohiym walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of YAHWEH Elohiym among the trees of the garden. 9 Then YAHWEH Elohiym called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” 12 Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” 13 And YAHWEH Elohiym said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 So YAHWEH Elohiym said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you will go, and you will eat dust all the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Zera’; He will bruise your head, and you will bruise His heel.” 16 To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in pain you will bring forth children; your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” 17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You will not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. 18 Both thorns and thistles will it bring forth for you, and you will eat the herb of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you will eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you will return.”
Sin has consequences. Solomon said people needed to work. It was the only way they would have food on their table. But those who spent their lives living frivolous — get rich quick — lives, would come to ruin.
What kind of schemes did you employ before you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios? Did you go after every promise that the product or strategy said would make you rich? Did the process tell you that you only needed to invest a certain amount and then you would live the rich life? It didn’t take long before you realized that the only way to riches was through the sweat of your brow. It was then you looked to another source that promised you more than the get rich quick life. It promised an abundant life, but you needed to work for it. You needed to be willing to obey Yeshuwa in everything He told you. He told you that the thief — Satan — only has one agenda — to keep you poor. If he had to crawl on his belly every day of his life, he would make certain you did too.
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (NKJV)
What has Satan stolen from you? What schemes did he put in front of you to make you believe you didn’t need to work as hard as YAHWEH said you did? How much money did you invest in those schemes before you turned your life over to Yeshuwa and asked Him to show you what you needed to do to have an abundant life?
I grew up in a time when the statement I heard most often was: If you don’t work, you don’t eat. Maybe you grew up with that statement ringing in your ears too. It did something in your innermost being — it made you get up in the morning, get dressed, and go out and pound the pavement to find the job that would put food on the table and in your belly.
What do you see today everywhere you go? Let me give you a clue — Now Hiring. The generation today feels entitled and believes it doesn’t need to go out and find a job, a job that is literally screaming at them to apply. They’ve been given everything in life without lifting a finger, so why should they apply for work. Because YAHWEH demands it.
When you said yes to Yeshuwa, you said yes to doing His will, and His will is for you to work for Him and His kingdom. When you do, He will provide everything you need for this life and even more.
Mark 10:28 Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.” 29 Then Iesous answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time — houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions — and in the age to come, eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
Obedience to Yeshuwa will put food on your table. Obedience will give you everything you need. YAHWEH is your provider. Yeshuwa is your provider. Your provider isn’t the next get rich quick scheme, it’s Yeshuwa.
Philippians 4:19 And my Theos will supply everything you need according to His riches in glory by Christos Iesous.
Trust Him, obey Him and be ready to work for Him. Then you too can have the abundant life He promised you.
Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Let’s pray: Father, You gave me a purpose when I said yes to You. Help me to look to You for everything I need, trusting You to provide and not leaning on my own understanding and the next get rich quick scheme. Satan wants me poor, but You promised me an abundant life if I trust You and look to You as my provider. Let Your will be done in my life today. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
