There are so many schemes out there on late night television and the Internet, people don’t need to look far to find something that will make them rich. People with the ‘get rich quick’ mentality are drawn to those schemes like moths to light. There’s something for everyone.
Solomon knew that those without discernment flocked to schemes that left a person not only poor but also impoverished because they sank everything they had into the schemes. He knew the only way to true wealth was through obedience to YAHWEH’S Law.
Proverbs 13:11 Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase.
Deuteronomy 8:10 “When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless YAHWEH your Elohiym for the good land which He has given you. 11 Beware that you do not forget YAHWEH your Elohiym by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, 12 lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; 13 and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; 14 when your heart is lifted up, and you forget YAHWEH your Elohiym who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15 who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; 16 who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end— 17 then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’ 18 “And you will remember YAHWEH your Elohiym, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. 19 Then it will be, if you by any means forget YAHWEH your Elohiym, and follow other elohiyms, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you will surely perish. 20 As the nations which YAHWEH destroys before you, so you will perish, because you would not be obedient to the voice of YAHWEH your Elohiym.
Only obedience to YAHWEH’S Word will give you true wealth.
What did you hope to gain when you said yes to Yeshuwa as your Soter and Kurios? Many Christians exploit the Word of YAHWEH for gain. People flock to crusades and graze the merchandize tables between ministry sessions unaware that much of the money they spend goes into the minister’s pocket, lining their wealth and making you poor.
When you understand that the Word of YAHWEH isn’t for sale, and you read, study, and obey His Word, only then will you receive the wealth laid up for you by Yeshuwa Christos.
1 Timothy 6:6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But you, O man of Theos, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Paul didn’t say money was the root of all evil, which many people translate as so, but he said the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
When you see something that looks good and ‘guarantees’ to make you rich — stop, pray about it, and keep your money in your pocket. The Hagios Pneuma will guide you to those things that work for your good, not for your poverty.
Let’s pray: Father, give me discernment when I see those things which lead me to poverty and not to Your blessings. Let me always read and study Your Word so I will walk the path You have for me and not the path of this world that would strip me of what I have. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
