What’s a song that changed your life?

I was five years old. I attended Vacation Bible School at my grandmother’s church. Now for most people that age, you might think Jesus Loves Me, This I Know would be the number one song on a child’s hit list. Not mine. I didn’t learn that song until much later. The song I learned that week in VBS was What a Friend We Have In Jesus. I loved that song. It stayed with me and every time I heard it, it made me happy.

A few months ago, my kitchen clock died. The batteries no longer kept the time moving. So, I looked for an inspirational clock on Amazon. I found one that plays three songs – songs I grew up with and the most important song for my life was among the three and was the impetus that made me click submit. The three songs: What a Friend We Have In Jesus, Amazing Grace, and Rock of Ages.

As a child all I knew was that I loved that song. As I grew older, I began to pay more attention to the words of that song. What a friend we have in Jesus. All our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.

Prayer is the most important thing in my life. It connects me to Jesus’ heart and I know He hears me.
