Day 288 – Truth

Proverbs 29:12 If a ruler pays attention to lies, all his servants become wicked.

• Alpha and Omega – Beginning and End, First and Last
• Kurios – Supreme Authority
• Theos – Supreme Divinity

• God’s character:
• Integrity
• Truth

Lies spread like wildfire. People love a juicy rumor. Do you remember your playground days? The whispered comments about a certain person in class. What if those whispered comments were about you or maybe they were about you. You knew they were lies and you knew why the person spreading them did so. The worst part about lies is that most people believe them.

Those lies aren’t found only on the playground. That’s where they begin. Those lies follow a person throughout their lives. People create campaigns based on lies. Let someone run for office. It doesn’t matter what office. It could be as senior class president, or it could be the president of your country. The ad campaigns become blatant lies, slandering the character of the person running for office. You choose sides based on the lies.

It happens all the time, in every business. How do you stop lies?

Solomon showed what happens when people believe lies, especially when it affects how a kingdom works. One lie leads to another until even the most loyal servants believe the lies and wickedness reigns in the kingdom.

Solomon showed seven things YAHWEH hated.

Proverbs 6:16 These six things YAHWEH hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.

Look at YAHWEH’S list of things He hates. Four of those seven deal with lies.

How do you stop lies?

Proverbs 26:20 Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no talebearer, strife ceases.

You stop lies by walking away and not adding fuel to the fire.

Why did you become a Christian? Did you believe you would get away from the lies of your past? The Jewish people did not believe Yeshuwa was their Messiah. They lied about His teachings so they could put Him to death on the cross.

How do you stop the lies even as a Christian?

Luke 6:39 And He spoke a parable to them: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch? 40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. 41 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye? 42 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye. 43 For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. 46 But why do you call Me ‘Kurios, Kurios,’ and do not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

People who build their lives on lies will be like the house without a foundation; they will fall into destruction.

Yeshuwa told John who would not inherit the kingdom of Theos.

Revelation 22:13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” 14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (NKJV)

Let’s pray: Father, David said, “Search me O God and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts; and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.” Search me, Lord. Cleanse me from every wicked thought, every lie I have told or listened to. Help me to be Your servant, faithful and obedient in everything, even the words I speak. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
