Everybody wants fair judgment from their monarch or president. They want to know their concerns matter. Does it happen that way? Usually not. Presidents get in with promises of fairness and transparency. Monarchs rely on Prime Ministers, also elected officials. Everybody has an agenda to get voted into office. It’s what happens after the election that concerns people.
Solomon knew his role as king came from YAHWEH the true Melek of Israel. He looked to YAHWEH for wisdom to rule. He knew that the only way to rule the people was with truth and wisdom. YAHWEH is truth and wisdom.
How did Solomon translate YAHWEH’S truth and wisdom to his role as king of Israel? By following his father’s example of leadership. He trusted YAHWEH to lead.
Solomon knew the prayer his father prayed on his behalf to YAHWEH.
Psalm 72:1 (A Psalm for Solomon.) Give the king Your judgments, O Elohiym, and Your righteousness to the king’s Huios. 2 He will judge Your people with righteousness, and Your poor with justice. 3 The mountains will bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. 4 He will bring justice to the poor of the people; He will save the children of the needy and will break in pieces the oppressor. 5 They will fear You as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations. 6 He will come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, like showers that water the earth. 7 In His days the righteous will flourish, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more. 8 He will have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. 9 Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before Him, and His enemies will lick the dust. 10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring presents; the kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts. 11 Yes, all kings will fall down before Him; all nations will serve Him. 12 For He will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper. 13 He will spare the poor and needy and will save the souls of the needy. 14 He will redeem their life from oppression and violence; and precious will be their blood in His sight. 15 And He will live; and the gold of Sheba will be given to Him; prayer also will be made for Him continually, and daily He will be praised. 16 There will be an abundance of grain in the earth, on the top of the mountains; its fruit will wave like Lebanon; and those of the city will flourish like grass of the earth. 17 His name will endure forever; His name will continue as long as the sun. And men will be blessed in Him; all nations will call Him blessed. 18 Blessed be YAHWEH Elohiym, the Elohiym of Israel, who only does wondrous things! 19 And blessed be His glorious name forever! And let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and Amen. 20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.
This is both a prayer for Solomon who will lead the nation of Israel as king after David, and it is about Yeshuwa, YAHWEH’S Son who will reign in peace when He returns.
Solomon’s reign was a reign of peace. And Yeshuwa will reign in eternal peace.
Solomon knew this prayer and recognized that the only thing he could do as king was follow YAHWEH in wisdom, righteousness, fairness, and peace.
As Christians, you know Yeshuwa will return as BASILEUS of Basileus and KURIOS of Kurios. Every eye will see Him and bow before Him. Everyone will acknowledge Him as Messiah, Basileus, and Soter.
Philippians 2:9 Therefore Theos also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Iesous every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Iesous Christos is Kurios, to the glory of Theos the Pater.
For some that day will be too late. They will acknowledge Him too late because they rejected Him in life.
Revelation 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Logos of Theos. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Pantokrator Theos.
16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: BASILEUS OF BASILEUS’ AND KURIOS OF KURIOS’.
The angel came to Mary and told her who Jesus was and what He would do.
Luke 1:31 “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Huios and will call His name IESOUS. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Huios of the Hupsistos; and Kurios Theos will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore, Adonay Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and bear a Ben and will call His name El Immanuw’el.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Ben is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Pele’, Ya’ats, Gibbowr El, ‘Ad ‘Ab, Sar of Shalowm. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of YAHWEH of Tsaba’ will perform this.
When you look at all that Yeshuwa is and what He came to do, the only thing you can say is Amen. Come Kurios Iesous. He will be the only true and fair Basileus.
Have you accepted Yeshuwa as your Soter and Kurios? It isn’t too late. Do it now before you see Him standing before you, and you know your eternity isn’t with Him. When you do you will be able to sing with the rest of the saints:
All hail King Jesus. All hail Immanuel.
Let that be your song of praise, knowing He comes to reign with truth, justice, righteousness, and peace.
Let’s pray: Father, I give You praise as KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. Let me sing Your praise with a joyful heart knowing I belong to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
